Hair Glossary

Gloss:

A type of color that adds shine to your hair, and is used to neutralize unwanted tones, enhance   wanted tones, or intensify wanted tones.

Root Shadow:

A technique used to diffuse highlights at the root area. This creates a more seamless and softer look. Can also help highlights to grow out with a less harsh line of demarcation. Usually only tapped on at the root so it still maintains brightness at the root.

Root melt:

A technique used to diffuse a darker tone down past brow level or lower. Creates a more grown out look if you do not like seeing highlights to the root.

“Lived In”

Terminology used to describe color services that give a lower maintenance appearance. Can go   longer between appointments sometimes depending on look you are trying to achieve. Because you can go longer between appointments, these can be more lengthy appointments requiring the use of more time and product, therefore can be priced higher due to this.
